This isn't about nostalgia or the idea that "everything was better before." The real problem is that today's electronics aesthetics have taken a path straight to boredom and repetition. Aluminum, plastic, glass, polished surfaces, curves—manufacturers insist that's what we want, when in reality we long for the warmth and attention to detail found in older designs. If you don't believe me, just browse through these images from Good Junk on Tumblr.
Now, not everything you'll find there is "old." Some products belong to this decade and don't necessarily try to imitate a retro look, but there's no doubt they've borrowed a detail or two from previous products. Personally, I've never started a large-scale collection simply because I don't have enough space or the budget, but some of the things that appear here certainly deserve a place of honor on any shelf. What do you think?
