Is there any place we haven't visited with Google Street View? We've already traveled almost the entire planet Earth but we still have a huge place: the ocean. Now thanks to Google Fish View you can explore the ocean floor and enjoy aquatic life.
Thanks to Google's Street View service we have visited amazing places like the Taj Mahal in India, the Liwa Oasis, the Amazon rainforest and even some crazy ones like the TARDIS from the British series Doctor Who. Now, in honor of World Oceans Day, which will be celebrated next Monday, June 8, Google Maps partnered with XL Catlin SeaView Survey, the NOAA's National Marine Sanctuaries Office and the Chagos Conservation Trust (environmental conservation and protection associations) to obtain new images of locations by the sea and underwater shown in 3D so that users can explore without needing to put on scuba gear.
The Street View camera dove into the depths and captured more than forty locations in all the world's oceans. The goal of this project is not only to explore a new place, but to learn in depth about the diverse marine species that inhabit there and discover new sites that you never thought you could find in places like those. It also raises awareness among people about ocean pollution, indiscriminate hunting and climate change, which cause great environmental problems in this area.
That is why Google Fish View lets you enjoy the aquatic view, taking you to meet each of the creatures that live in their natural habitat such as sea turtles, the friendly dolphins and even the huge whales. Among the most notable places in the world that you can explore are the Galápagos Islands, the Florida Keys and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, among many others. The way to travel along the ocean floor with Google Fish View is the same as any other Street View interface, with panoramic 360-degree images that you can explore at your leisure from the comfort of your computer, tablet or mobile.
