Graphixy is a program designed to convert images into X and Y coordinates. By drawing over an image or a canvas, you can determine the exact coordinates of each pixel. You can then export the data as a TXT file. The platform provides a simple drawing method to know the coordinates of every pixel, whether you are working with an existing image or a drawing made directly in its interface.

Setting up the canvas

First, you need to define the X and Y coordinates of the canvas, which appears on the right side of the interface. At the top, you'll find text boxes for x max, y min, and y max, where you can set the coordinate ranges. If you prefer not to define custom coordinates, you can create a canvas from the settings with a default size of 625 x 485 pixels.

Drawing and recording

To start drawing, simply press Record and then select Start. The environment will track all mouse movements over the canvas. The X and Y coordinates are displayed on the right side of the interface. You can pause or clear the drawing at any time.

Saving and exporting

Once you pause the sketch, you can save the drawing as X and Y coordinates by clicking Save. The file can be saved in TXT, JPEG, BMP, GIF, JPG, or PNG format. You can then open the TXT file in Excel and create a scatter plot to visualize the coordinates as a drawing.

Converting an existing drawing

To convert a drawing into coordinates, simply open the file (JPEG, GIF, JPG, PNG, or BMP) within the environment. Then press Record, select Start, and trace over the drawing or image. The accuracy of the coordinates depends on how precisely you trace with the mouse. After tracing, you pause and save the coordinates.

Graphixy offers many other options, such as Replay and selecting the canvas color, among others. It stands out as one of the few tools that converts each pixel of a drawing into coordinates in real time on a very simple platform. Graphixy is free, portable, and available for Windows operating systems.
