Released in 2004 for Windows and later adapted for Microsoft and Sony consoles along with Mac and Linux systems, Half-Life 2 is set twenty years after the events of Half-Life. The story begins with Gordon Freeman arriving at City 17 in a dystopian version of Earth that has been conquered by the Combine, an alien race that combines with its conquerors to become increasingly stronger. Although it doesn't say so openly, it seems the mysterious G-Man does not like what is happening, and that is why he sends Gordon wherever he sends him.
Over time there have been a great number of mods developed by the Half-Life 2 community. From new levels and weapons to modifications in the story and gameplay of the existing game, all created by fans. This time the Romanian modder known as Filip Victor presents us with Half-Life 2: Update, a complete remasterization of the classic Valve game with modern graphics. In the trailer you can see comparisons of the original game with this remasterization, which includes a greater lighting range, improved shadow details, lights, fog, water, and other effects that simply were not possible in 2004.
"The objective of Half-Life 2: Update is to fix, polish, and visually improve Half-Life 2, without changing the gameplay of the original game" expressed Filip Victor regarding the remasterization. The gameplay of Half-Life 2 is exactly the same as we knew it: run, crouch, jump, take cover from shots, turn on the flashlight, and not much more. The cocktail of possible actions is practically the same as always, with the addition of the Gravity Gun, and some puzzles that depend on it.
