The "Biblioteca Universal de Misterio y Terror" was a horror anthology that came out biweekly in the Spanish market from 1981, a globally known and true cult piece among all lovers of literary scares. Now, nearly forty years later, it returns under a different name but in the same fashion, thanks to Agustín Cordes, an undeniable horror genre enthusiast and creator of classics like Scratches, Serena, and the always imminent Asylum. Get ready for the return of pure horror under the name Historias de Misterio y Terror.
The mythical "Biblioteca Universal de Misterio y Terror" from Ediciones UVE was a book series that debuted in the Spanish market in 1981 and remains in the memories of a select group of faithful readers. A cult collection with forty books, featuring authors such as Carlos Saiz Cidoncha, José León Cano, Pedro Montero, Juan Tébar, and Daniel Tubau, among many others. Now, after several decades, a new independent publisher, Noriko, is preparing to debut with a homage that aims to bring it back, with the same quality, many of its established authors, but under a different name: "Historias de Misterio y Terror".
The project, led by Agustín Cordes, began some time ago when Agustín contacted several authors of the "Biblioteca Universal de Misterio y Terror", geniuses like Daniel Tubau, José Velasco Montes, Delfín Rodríguez, Víctor Claudín, José León Cano, and Juan Tébar, who did not hesitate to join and write for the first volume of "Historias de Misterio y Terror". They are not the only ones: Agustín Cordes will delight readers with his own story full of primordial madness, as will our friend Maximiliano Ferzzola, who joins the project and contributes a spine-chilling story that will keep you awake for days (the illustration of which you can see below).
Special merit goes to the legendary Spanish artist Alfonso Azpiri, responsible for the illustrations that accompany each story. Sadly, Azpiri passed away last August, this being his last work. For now, the first volume of "Historias de Misterio y Terror" will be available from Friday, April 13, 2018 (an ideal date if there ever was one).
