The Honor 500 suits buyers who want strong hardware, an unusually bright display and a large battery. Its main trade-off is the rear main camera’s f/1.9 aperture, which is worse than most phones of its time.
Its 6.55″ AMOLED display reaches 6,000 nits and 460 ppi, both among the best figures of its time. The 91.2% usable surface is also among the best, while the 7.8 mm body is thinner than most phones of its time. The 120Hz refresh rate is typical rather than a differentiator. IP68 and IP69K protection, plus water resistance to 1.5 m, cover dust and water exposure.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage provide more memory and capacity than most phones of its time. Its 8,000mAh battery and 80W charging are also better than most. The rear main camera combines 200MP, a 1/1.4″ sensor and optical image stabilization, though its f/1.9 aperture is the clear weakness. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 round out the connectivity.
