But obtaining all those installers can become a tedious and boring process. In my deepest stages of "software paranoia", I admit I've gone as far as reinstalling entire operating systems in six-month cycles... even less. The search for performance was absolute, and once "Windows bloats", it's very difficult to make it slim down. That leads us to the classic purge, or "nuke and pave" as English speakers like to call it.
This is not a particularly pleasant practice due to the time it demands, but it brings several advantages to the table: the operating system returns to its ideal state, we get updated drivers, and our software is up to date. Now, what possibilities are there to automate those downloads? The answer to that question is "many", and a viable solution comes through a small software called Roboget, which received its last update last month.
How to Automate Downloads of Your Programs with Roboget
Roboget doesn't even need a traditional installation: Double-click its executable, select the software you want to download, and click 'Get All' to begin. Some downloads will be processed directly by Roboget, while others will open tabs in your default browser to complete. Each entry has a general description of the program, its Windows compatibility level, and download links, in case you want to export to an external manager, or choose portable editions.
The files will be stored in Roboget's temporary folder, but it's important to note that the program will download all available editions, i.e., 32-bit and 64-bit builds at the same time. In the Settings section we find integration options for cURL, Wget and jDownloader, as well as functions to run each installer after its download, or limit Roboget's scope to portable copies.
