To delete the Android advertising ID on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, open the Ads settings and choose Delete advertising ID. Android Police’s walkthrough gives this device-specific route:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Security and privacy, then More privacy settings.
- Tap Ads.
- Choose Delete advertising ID.
- Confirm the deletion.
If your Settings menus look different
Android Police also describes an alternate route on its Samsung walkthrough: Settings > Google services > All services > Privacy and security > Ads. Searching Settings for Ads is another way to look for the control.
A separate route appears in a screen recording by MDTechVideos: Settings > Security and privacy > Privacy controls > Ads > Delete advertising ID. If your menus use Privacy controls, that’s a path to try.
Google’s advertising guidance describes a general route through Settings > Privacy > Ads > Delete advertising ID and notes that apps may use other identifiers. (Google’s advertising guidance)
Delete or reset: what changes?
Deleting removes the current advertising ID. Resetting replaces it with a new random ID, so choose Delete advertising ID if you want to remove the current one. Android Police describes a Get new advertising ID control on the Ads screen after deletion.
What deletion changes
Deleting the ID limits ad personalization through that identifier, but apps may still show ads. Apps may also use their own settings or information you share with them, such as sign-in details; Google’s advertising guidance notes that apps may use other identifiers. Removing this one ID does not end every form of tracking.
