Some audio enthusiasts reject the idea of using equalizers, but the truth is that with a series of basic adjustments, today we can optimize sound on many computers equipped with simple speakers, or drivers of questionable quality. A global and free equalization solution is FxSound, however, there is also the possibility of equalizing audio in Google Chrome and Firefox with the Audio Equalizer extension.
Speakers built into monitors and laptops always leave much to be desired. The same can be said for some headphones, especially those with Bluetooth technology. As if that were not enough, there is always the driver that is bordering on bloatware, full of useless and unstable garbage.
In other words, we users deserve better audio on our computers, but before rushing out to buy a DAC, I think we should give equalization and software adjustments a chance. That is where Audio Equalizer comes in, an extension that allows us to easily equalize audio in Google Chrome and Firefox.

If the name sounds familiar, it is because we have already talked about this extension a couple of years ago, but I am glad to know that it is still in development, and it works perfectly under the latest versions of the browsers. Audio Equalizer does not have advanced menus or special configurations. The whole process is reduced to activating the equalizer, selecting a preset from the list (or modifying the values manually), and adjusting the preamp if necessary.
Its secondary commands help us restore to default values, reload the tab, reload the interface, evaluate the equalizer with a series of tests on the developer's page, force mono mode (available for accessibility/compatibility reasons), and the snap for sliders (meaning we modify one and the rest "accompanies" the movement, so to speak).
The extension should work in any tab that uses HTML5 to process audio, and that means it is not limited to YouTube videos. While it is possible that some premium streaming services block its function (DRM and other similar whims), Audio Equalizer remains a solid alternative to equalize audio in Google Chrome and Firefox.
