In this article we will teach you to search images based on their geographic location. To do this we will use the Pic4Carto website, which will help us find Creative Commons images from the Flickr, Wikimedia and Mapillary platforms, thanks to its geolocation viewer. All the images the platform finds are in Full HD quality and thanks to its license you can use them for whatever you want.
When you enter Pic4Carto, you will see a map that covers most of the site's interface. To search for Creative Commons images, you only need to zoom in on that map and go to the area you want. After zooming with the mouse wheel, you will see a grid; inside each square you will see the number of available images, their date, and the platform where they are hosted.
In all the tests we have carried out, we found a large number of free images in big cities, but in less touristy areas the number of available photographs decreases noticeably.
When you click on the grid, the environment will search for photos on the three websites and show you the images through an internal viewer (you can zoom, go to the next one, download, see details, etc.).
The platform is really a very good option for searching and downloading images with Creative Commons license from the Flickr, Wikimedia and Mapillary pages.
