DNS servers can either go completely unnoticed or become a real nightmare, but if you're thinking about optimizing your network access, it's never a bad idea to check the speed of the most important services. The DNS Speed Test Benchmark portal reduces the whole process to a single click, and gives us the ability to remove or add sites to get more personalized results.
What do we ask of a DNS server? First of all, the basics: That it works and is stable. It's always preferable to lose a few milliseconds along the way than to suffer from intermittent issues, but we shouldn't give in too much either. There are very good DNS servers out there, and the end user can experiment with them without difficulty. The problem is that each region ends up being a universe, and what works well on one side, crawls like a snail on the other. The solution? Generate benchmarks of multiple DNS services, and that's exactly what the DNS Speed Test Benchmark portal does.
Discover the fastest DNS server in your region
No accounts, logins, or subscriptions: All you have to do is click the Check DNS Speed button and wait a few seconds. The full list reaches dozens of services, with minimum values, median, averages, and maximums. At the bottom you'll also find a chart showing the evolution of speed across different domains. Those domains can be edited at the top right of the interface, by clicking the Edit hosts list icon. Google, YouTube, Facebook, Wikipedia, and Netflix are some of the names that appear there, but you can always add more or remove the ones that don't interest you.
Once you've located the best DNS, the rest is just copying its configuration. A click on the Notepad icon next to each name will send the data to the clipboard, and from there, you decide. You can configure DNS at the device level, or at the router level so they work across your entire network.
