Many legal procedures and administrative processes start with a small photo, but that need often catches us at an inconvenient moment, in a tighter economic situation than usual, or, as has been happening lately, in full quarantine. In some cases, a regular photo is more than enough, but in others we must follow specific parameters. That's when the portal "Make a Passport Photo" comes to the rescue, helping us create passport-style photos compatible with various resources (from documents to driver's licenses) in 150 countries.
Some of the bureaucratic monsters still lurking in the background are truly incredible. For years, authorities have promoted the use of "new technologies" to digitize identifications and simplify procedures, but when it comes down to it, there's always a new requirement to fulfill. The page indicates that the photo size should be 26 x 32 millimeters with a white background. Our sample image (the face of a a nonexistent woman generated with artificial intelligence) doesn't have what you'd call a white background, but it's more than enough for a test. First, we load the photo, then adjust its position, then modify brightness, contrast, exposure, and/or saturation, and finish the process. There's an intermediate step that allows adding dresses or suits and ties, but it's in beta.
The free version of "Make a Passport Photo" gives us a JPEG image with the ideal number of passport photos, but you'll have to handle the editing, printing, and cutting yourself (unless you only need digital copies). In our demo, the photo size was virtually exact (32 x 25.999), but there's a small detail: They don't include a conformity check. That step is only available in the premium version of the service ($9 for eight photos), which offers superior customization. The intermediate step is to let an artificial intelligence create your ideal photo, at a price of four dollars.
