Modulate.ai is a website that uses machine learning technology to mask your voice. This way, you can create audio clips of up to 10 seconds to use in games, virtual reality, film, marketing, music, audiobooks, sound engineering, or to surprise your friends on Skype calls. The platform is in beta, and the final masked file is marked as synthesized to prevent misuse.
How to mask your voice with custom voice skins?
To mask your voice with Modulate.ai, the first thing you need to do is allow the platform to use your computer's microphone. You will have to record the audio directly, with a maximum duration of 10 seconds (you can also record video), since the environment lacks the option to upload an external audio or video. Then you will find the four masks to add the custom style to your voice. There you can use one, two, three, or all four skins to create a unique mask.
All you have to do is click on “Apply” and get the final file. At this point you can play the custom style and, if you are not satisfied, apply the masks again with different parameters. You can also share the file. On Modulate.ai you will find some sample audios of famous people, but these files are not yet available for use in masks (only playback).
The service Modulate.ai offers is very good, but remember that the environment is still in beta, and we notice it when we play the audio (it has a significant delay) and the masks still don't hide the voice much. For this reason we expect the final version from the developers, which will surely be much better.
