Windows 10 includes a native virtual desktop feature called Task View, but the operating system does not offer an option to move all programs and folders from the original and virtual desktops to the active desktop at once. That's why in this article we'll show you the steps to move folders and programs from one desktop to another.
To accomplish this task, we'll use zVirtualDesktop, which is completely free and hosted on GitHub. To move all programs from all desktops to the active desktop in Windows 10, you only need to press a few shortcut keys or perform two mouse clicks on a desktop. After that, the rest of the desktops will be emptied of programs and they will move to the active one.
Getting Started with zVirtualDesktop
Once you download the zVirtualDesktop program, you'll need to unzip the file. When you run the executable, the program will start running on your computer. In our download, the file had a .zip extension and an extra character; we simply removed it and unzipped the archive normally.
Moving All Windows at Once
Now, create all the virtual desktops you need using Task View, or you can use the downloaded platform. After opening folders and programs on each desktop, go to the desktop where you want to gather everything from the others and press Alt + Win + H. You can also right-click the zVirtualDesktop icon and select the Bring All Windows Here option.
As soon as you do that, all programs and folders will move to the active desktop immediately. If you want to change the shortcut key combination, just open the context menu and select zVirtualDesktop Settings. In the popup window, look for the Bring All Windows option and, from the new dialog, change the key combination.
Additional Features of zVirtualDesktop
As you can see, moving all programs and folders from original and virtual desktops to the native desktop is a very simple task, all with a portable platform that supports up to 10 desktops. We also want to mention that zVirtualDesktop offers several interesting features, including the ability to set custom backgrounds for each desktop, up to nine of them.
