Pre-rendering requires 100 megabytes of RAM on average, with a cap of 150 megabytes. It may not seem like much on computers with 8 or 16 GB of RAM, but we can still find netbooks/cloudbooks/chromebooks on the market with a 2 GB ceiling, and low-cost Android devices ranging between 512 megabytes and a gigabyte of RAM. Forcing the activation of NoState Prefetch is very simple: Type chrome://flags in the address bar, search for 'NoState', and change the option from 'Default' to 'Enabled'. The browser will ask for a restart, and the change should be permanent across updates, unless Google develops something better in the future and NoState also becomes deprecated. Of course, we make no promises. The most likely thing is that the most humble systems will benefit from this adjustment, and that high-end computers won't even notice it.
