Many of us probably have the data sharing option enabled when creating our accounts on social networks. While some people know and agree with these marketing campaigns, other users are unaware that they share data with companies from their Facebook, Amazon, Google, Reddit, LinkedIn accounts, and so on. If you want to get rid of this intrusion, we are going to present a free online service called SimpleOptOut.com.
- Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, Microsoft, Reddit, PayPal, Pinterest, Samsung, Ancestry.com, 23andMe, Amazon, Twitter, Yahoo/Oath, Google, LinkedIn, Hulu and Roomba, among many others.
How to opt out of data sharing on online platforms?
The first thing you have to do is log in to the service you want to remove the data sharing option. Then, go to the website SimpleOptOut.com. At this point, we want to clarify that you do not need to register or give any special requirement to the platform.
Now you will have to scroll down the website and look for the company with which you no longer want to share your personal or browsing data. The services are listed in alphabetical order. We will go to “Google” and select the option “Search history & ad personalization”, in the center you will find the hyperlink “Opt-out”, click there and the tool redirects you directly to the options to disable sharing this data with Google.
In most services you will find other options, all to stop sharing data with companies. For example, on LinkedIn (Ad targeting) or on Facebook (Ads and location data). In other words, the service provides you with precise direct links. It may seem little, but the truth is that most of these pages have these options so hidden that sometimes you need help.
In short, SimpleOptOut.com offers us the direct links to stop sharing our personal or browsing data with more than 40 companies. Otherwise, we would waste a lot of time locating the appropriate URL to disable these options. Not bad at all!
