Apple’s Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence setting is optional. To turn it off on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence, then switch it off. This controls Apple’s consent program for storing and reviewing eligible interactions; it does not disable Siri’s ordinary ability to answer requests.

What you need

You only need an iPhone or iPad with the setting available in its Settings app. The control is separate from the general Siri switch and from the older Improve Siri & Dictation setting.

When Apple Intelligence is enabled, Apple says the consent setting may allow Apple to store and review samples from Siri, Dictation, and Translate, including audio, transcripts, and related request data. Apple also says it may use that information to train foundation models.

Turn off Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence

  1. Open Settings. This takes you to the device controls.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security. Apple places the improvement controls inside its privacy settings.
  3. Tap Analytics & Improvements. This opens the group of settings for sharing diagnostic and improvement data.
  4. Tap Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence. This opens the consent control for Apple Intelligence-related improvement and training.
  5. Turn off the setting. The opt-in is no longer enabled on that device.

If you are setting up iOS 27 and the consent prompt appears before you reach Settings, choose Not Now rather than Share Audio and Text.

What the setting controls

With the Apple Intelligence option enabled, Apple says it may use eligible Siri, Dictation, and Translate interactions for product improvement and foundation-model training. The data categories include:

  • Audio recordings
  • Transcripts
  • Related request data

Apple says the request history is associated with a random, device-generated identifier rather than an Apple Account or email address. Apple also says request history is not used to build a marketing profile and is never sold.

Apple says only its employees review audio recordings. A subset of non-audio samples may be reviewed by graders.

What turning it off does not change

Turning off Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence is not the same as turning off Siri. Siri can continue answering ordinary requests because the consent setting controls the collection and use of samples for improvement and training, not Siri’s basic request processing.

The older Improve Siri & Dictation control is also separate. If you want to change that program too, return to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements and review its setting separately.

For Apple Watch, Apple says the improvement preference matches the iPhone or iPad used during setup. Family-member Apple Watch setups have the setting off by default and cannot adjust it.

How to verify the setting is off

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
  3. Tap Improve Siri & Apple Intelligence.
  4. Confirm that the control is switched off.

If the setup prompt appears again on another device, check that device’s own setting rather than assuming one preference applies everywhere.
