Artist Nickolay Lamm decided to “reinterpret” WiFi with the help of an astrobiologist, and the result is a series of images that turn one of the most popular technologies into an explosion of colors.

It is likely that you have a WiFi router working in your home, or that you are within the range of one. If you don't have physical access to the router, the only reference that tells us about the existence of a WiFi network is the detection capability of devices. Right now, in my workplace, there are three WiFi networks running. I cannot see them or feel them, but they are there. And I could say the same about the waves that reach the radio receiver, or the infrared emission that goes from the remote control to the television. All of this escapes our eyes.

Data exchange, connections that form and interrupt, high-speed transfers... our eyes have nothing to do with them. In fact, if we compare what we can see with the rest of the spectrum, the result is a bit depressing. However, that did not prevent artist Nickolay Lamm from taking WiFi and giving it a little color with the help of astrobiologist M. Browning Vogel.

Using Washington D.C. as a model, Lamm turns WiFi into a rainbow, with different colors representing each of the channels, and adopting spherical shapes that extend between twenty and thirty meters. At the same time, perhaps Lamm is forcing a bit more than necessary his interpretation of WiFi if we compare it to his previous works, like the “normal” Barbie with the body of an average woman, very well received for its precision.

Some sections in his description about WiFi have caused some discomfort among those with much more technical knowledge, a detail that has been expressed through comments on the official site. In other words, we recognize that the work is not technically correct, but that does not change the fact that the images are very pleasant to the eye.
