Huawei Hi Nova 12z

The Huawei Hi Nova 12z suits buyers looking for a slim, light phone with a display that covers nearly the entire front. Its main trade-offs are a battery capacity among the lowest of its time and a camera setup that ranks among the weakest. In return, 66 W charging is faster than that of most phones launched around the same time.

The 6.67-inch OLED display runs at 120 Hz, a typical refresh rate for its time, and the screen covers 91.85% of the front, among the highest proportions. Its 7.5 mm body is among the thinnest of its time, while its 185 g weight is lower than that of most contemporaries. Those design details suit buyers who prioritize a slender phone and a large display.

The 4500 mAh battery capacity is among the lowest of its time, although fast charging is rated at 66 W. For photos, the f/1.9 aperture is worse than most phones of its time, and optical image stabilization is absent; video recording reaches 1080p at 30 fps. The Kirin 8000, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage put its hardware at a typical level. Connectivity is among the weakest of its time; the phone has 5G, NFC and dual Nano-SIM. With a NeoScore of 5.2 and an overall standing that is typical, the Hi Nova 12z is best suited to buyers who value a slim build and display more than camera features or battery capacity.
