Regardless of the type of content or its place of origin, if you visit a site that uses cookies, you will most likely receive a warning about it. In many cases, this warning is small and takes up little space on the screen, but there are some banners out there that are a real horror. Once again, the solution to avoid going crazy in front of so many cookie notices is to download an extension compatible with Chrome and Firefox, called "I Don’t Care About Cookies".
A well-informed user is supposed to protect themselves better on the Web. A series of recent changes, among which the final implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union stands out, forced thousands of portals to present more data and request new subscriptions. This also led to larger notices about the use of cookies... but good intentions created a new problem: The user is saturated. The last thing they want to see when entering a site is a cookie warning taking up half the screen, and although it may seem unbelievable, that can affect the number of visits. So, what alternatives are there?
Avoid cookie warning messages with "I Don’t Care About Cookies"
One of them is "I Don’t Care About Cookies", an extension fortunately available for Google Chrome (and its clones) and Mozilla Firefox. There is nothing to configure or specify here. It does not work with blacklists either, and the only option available in its menu is to report a cookie notice that has slipped through. In fact, "I Don’t Care About Cookies" does not even have an official interface, which makes it a bit difficult to share how it works when there is nothing to see in the first place.
Personally, I have not detected any conflict between "I Don’t Care About Cookies" and other extensions, and its resource consumption is not severe. Quite the opposite: in the case of Chrome, it indicates less than a megabyte after its installation. There are not a few who believe that cookies have their days numbered. The Web has changed, and the demands are different. The work of "I Don’t Care About Cookies" is simple, but it is likely that in a while, the extension will become obsolete. Until that happens, remember that you can delete cookies and other browsing elements with Bleachbit.
