Yes, a Google Pixel 9 battery can be replaced, but iFixit rates the job “Difficult” and estimates 1–2 hours. Its U.S. guide lists a $59.99 Fix Kit and a separate $52.99 battery-only part; neither is a professional repair bill. iFixit’s repair guide covers the work and its risks.
What the repair involves
The job goes well beyond swapping a small part. iFixit’s procedure opens the rear glass and removes internal covers, the midframe assembly, cables and the motherboard before the battery can be accessed. The phone’s battery should be fully discharged before disassembly. iFixit also cautions that an opening pick should not go more than 3 mm beneath the rear glass.
Replacing the rear-cover adhesive matters, too: iFixit says water resistance after repair depends on how well the adhesive is reapplied. The genuine replacement battery is identified as model GVYZ7, part number G949-00975-00. iFixit lists it for Pixel 9 models G1B60, G2YBB and GUR25. The part listing gives the model and compatibility details.
What the U.S. prices cover
The two iFixit prices are for parts, not installation. The $52.99 amount is for the battery alone; the $59.99 Fix Kit is the kit price listed in the guide.
| Option | U.S. listed price | What it covers |
| Pixel 9 battery alone | $52.99 | Battery part only; tools are listed separately in iFixit’s guide |
| Pixel 9 Fix Kit | $59.99 | iFixit kit price, not professional labor; iFixit’s guide |
| Pixel 11 base model | $899 starting price | U.S. price reported by BGR in its October 15, 2026 comparison; BGR’s report |
Subtracting the $59.99 kit price from BGR’s reported $899 Pixel 11 starting price gives $839.01. That is an arithmetic difference between a new phone’s starting price and a repair kit—not a comparison of equivalent purchases. It excludes tax, trade-in value, discounts, labor and any additional tools.
What a professional repair route offers
For a repair through uBreakiFix, the company advertises free diagnostics, a no-charge estimate and a one-year limited warranty for Pixel 9 battery service. It also says most repairs are returned the same day. uBreakiFix’s Pixel 9 service page describes those terms.
If you do not want to tackle a repair rated Difficult, request an estimate and compare it with the cost of the parts. A kit price alone will not tell you what a professional installation costs.
Repair or upgrade?
If you want to keep using the Pixel 9, the battery replacement is a possible route—but the time, internal disassembly and rear-cover adhesive all matter alongside the parts price. If you are considering a new phone, BGR reported a U.S. starting price of $899 for the Pixel 11 base model in its October 15, 2026 comparison. The right comparison for your decision is that reported starting price against an actual repair estimate and any trade-in or discount you can get.
BGR’s October 15 comparison also recommended considering replacement when battery health falls below 80%. That is BGR’s recommendation; it is not presented here as a Google rule.
Try battery settings before buying parts
Google’s Pixel Help guidance recommends Adaptive Battery, Adaptive brightness, Battery Saver and reviewing app battery use. You can find app consumption under Settings > Apps > App battery usage and Battery Saver under Settings > Battery > Battery Saver. These settings can help manage battery drain before you decide whether to pursue a repair. Google’s battery guidance, Battery Saver guidance and app battery-use guidance cover these options.
