The idea of uninstalling Windows 10 apps is almost as old as the operating system itself. Many users consider them unnecessary, or interpret them as an imposition by Microsoft. In the past we have studied several dedicated options to the removal of those apps, but now it's NirSoft's turn with its new InstalledAppView, which also presents detailed, low-level information about each one.
The conflict is inevitable: Microsoft presents Windows 10 as a service, but many users out there want an operating system. Microsoft declares that some elements cannot be uninstalled because of their "fundamental role" in the functioning of the system, while users demand a clean and lightweight platform, without bloatware. Both sides fall into an impasse, and only with the help of third parties is it possible to break it.
One of the most advanced (and by extension aggressive) options is Windows10Debloater, which uses PowerShell cleanup scripts. If you prefer a more moderate alternative, then the Windows Privacy Dashboard should serve you well to remove (almost) all those apps. But if you're looking for something even lighter and more portable than the rest, the answer lies with NirSoft and its new program InstalledAppView.
How to uninstall Windows 10 apps with InstalledAppView
At the top of the interface you'll see the detected apps and components, while in the lower half you'll have access to all the XML linked to the app. This is useful not only for uninstalling each application, but also for its correct identification, since Microsoft is not particularly generous with its descriptions.
To uninstall an app, simply press CTRL+U, or use the context menu by right-clicking the app. The remaining options allow you to request a silent uninstall, open the app's position in the registry editor, and search for its installation path on the hard drive (usually inside Windows/SystemApps). Other parameters enable the uninstallation of several items simultaneously, and the execution mode (always as admin, or when necessary).
The ability to generate and export reports (a classic NirSoft feature by now) hasn't gone anywhere, and as always, the software is portable, with no local dependencies. If you've used NirSoft's programs before, InstalledAppView will be an excellent addition to your maintenance toolkit.
