On November 3, 2026, MacRumors reported that Apple seeded the first developer beta of iOS 27.3. The outlet described three Safari changes: Vertical Tabs, an optional dark treatment for bright websites, and new Siri controls for tabs and browsing history.

Vertical Tabs move the tab strip to the side

MacRumors reported that Safari’s tabs can appear in a strip along the left side of the screen. The strip shows site icons by default, with an option to widen it and display website titles. The layout works with Tab Groups and Topics.

On iPhone, the reported setting is in Safari settings. On iPad and Mac, MacRumors also described an option in the View menu.

Adaptive Dark Mode is offered for bright websites

La Manzana Mordida’s Spanish-language walkthrough shows Safari’s vertical tab strip and Adaptive Dark Mode interface.

When a device is using Dark Mode and a website has a bright design without its own dark mode, Safari can offer a “Try” option. MacRumors reported that the adaptation can adjust backgrounds, text contrast, graphics, vector artwork, raised surfaces, and shadows.

The option does not apply to sites that already have a native dark mode or an already-dark design. Website developers can also opt out with a tag. After trying the adaptation, users can choose to apply it to all sites or set it site by site.

Siri can manage tabs, but webpage awareness was still forthcoming

MacRumors reported that Siri can sort, move, close, and arrange tabs and windows in Tab Groups. It can also clear a particular website’s history for a selected period; the outlet gave the last 10 days as one example. The reported Siri controls require a device capable of Apple Intelligence.

A broader Siri feature intended to understand webpage content across active and inactive tabs, including content off screen, was described as forthcoming and absent from beta 1.

At the time of the November 3 reports, developers who had opted into developer beta updates could find the software under Settings > General > Software Update.
