Counterpoint Research estimates that global iPhone 18 Pro-series sales were 3.1% higher year over year during the first three weeks after launch. The gain was uneven: China accounted for most of it, while estimates for the United States and Japan fell. CIRP reported a separate increase in the Pro models’ share of U.S. iPhone sales, using a different period and measure.
Counterpoint’s estimate varied sharply by region
Counterpoint’s Smartphone Weekly Sales Tracker compared the first three weeks after the iPhone 18 Pro launch with the same period for the prior Pro series. Its regional estimates show China leading the growth, with declines in the United States and Japan. Counterpoint Research’s early sales estimate puts the regional changes at:
| Region | Year-over-year change |
| China | +29% |
| United States | −4% |
| Japan | −27% |
| Others | +3% |
The global +3.1% estimate, reported after the September 2026 launch, reflects this regional mix. It does not mean sales rose in every market.
A sales percentage is useful only with its market and time window attached.
CIRP measured the Pro models’ share of U.S. iPhone sales
CIRP put the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at 24% of U.S. iPhone unit sales in July–September 2026. The iPhone 17 Pro pair accounted for 21% in the September 2025 quarter, a difference of 3 percentage points. CIRP’s U.S. sales-mix report says each pair had a little more than two weeks of sales in its respective quarter.
| Pro models | Quarter | Share of U.S. iPhone unit sales |
| iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max | September 2025 quarter | 21% |
| iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max | July–September 2026 | 24% |
That three-point difference is a change in the pair’s share of all U.S. iPhone unit sales, not a 3% increase in unit sales. It also measures something different from Counterpoint’s global estimate for the first three weeks after launch: one is a quarterly U.S. sales mix, the other a global launch-window comparison.
Pro Max’s share within the Pro series edged down
The iPhone 18 Pro Max represented 56% of sales within the iPhone 18 Pro series, compared with 57% for the previous Pro series, according to Counterpoint. This is the Pro Max’s share within its own Pro pair, not its share of all iPhone sales.
