The iPhone Duo is the better fit if you want a large folding display; the iPhone 18 Pro is the clearer choice if you want a dedicated telephoto camera and Apple-listed Pro camera controls. Apple lists the same A20 Pro chip configuration for both, and both support Dolby Vision recording up to 4K at 120 fps.
A foldable workspace or a conventional Pro display?
The Duo has a 7.6-inch folding inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display. That makes the central choice a larger screen that unfolds from a phone-sized outer display, or a conventional Pro model with a more extensive listed camera system.
Apple lists the A20 Pro in both phones, with a six-core CPU, a seven-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. The matching chip specifications don’t settle every performance question, but processing hardware isn’t the clearest distinction in Apple’s listings. The display and camera choices are.

Apple’s model comparison lists these specifications, including the display-specific playback figures. Marques Brownlee’s hands-on video demonstrates the Duo opening and the transition between its outer and inner screens. The video includes a sponsored segment.
The camera difference is telephoto reach
The iPhone Duo has a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide. Apple lists optical-zoom settings of 0.5x, 1x, and 2x. The iPhone 18 Pro adds a 48MP Fusion Telephoto camera and variable aperture on its Main camera, with listed optical-zoom settings extending to 4x and 8x.
That distinction matters if you regularly want to frame distant subjects or use the Pro’s listed camera controls: those features belong to the 18 Pro in Apple’s comparison. If a folding screen is the main attraction, the Duo still offers both a Main and an Ultra Wide rear camera; its listed camera setup simply doesn’t include the dedicated Fusion Telephoto.
Both phones support Dolby Vision up to 4K at 120 fps
Apple lists Dolby Vision recording up to 4K at 120 frames per second for both the Duo and iPhone 18 Pro. It separately lists Pro camera controls for the 18 Pro. So the Duo shares that high-resolution, high-frame-rate Dolby Vision capability, while the 18 Pro has the additional listed camera controls and telephoto hardware.
Apple’s playback figures depend on the Duo display
Apple lists maximum video playback of up to 31 hours on the Duo’s inner display and up to 44 hours on its outer display. Its figure for the iPhone 18 Pro is up to 36 hours. These are video-playback specifications; they don’t describe how long either phone lasts across a day of mixed use.
US price, repair estimates, and preorder timing
Apple’s US store lists the unlocked iPhone Duo with 256GB of storage at $1,999. Apple lists the iPhone 18 Pro starting at $1,199, making the difference between those listed entry prices $800. The Duo price is for a 256GB configuration, while the Pro figure is a starting price. Apple’s US store lists the Duo price, and Apple’s comparison page lists the Pro starting price.
For out-of-warranty service, Apple says its repair charges are estimates: it inspects the device before setting a personalized final fee, tax may apply, shipping may be added, and Apple Authorized Service Providers set their own fees. Apple’s iPhone repair terms give those conditions.
Apple’s US store schedules iPhone Duo preorders to begin October 16, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. PT.
