The new adaptation based on Stephen King's classic novel went viral on the internet immediately. The trailer for It is a world record with 197 million views in 24 hours, surpassing the record of The Fate of the Furious.
The trailer from New Line Cinema for It generated 197 million views worldwide within 24 hours of its release, surpassing the previous record of 139 million set by The Fate of the Furious from Universal last December. That number reached 246 million views 36 hours after launch. The trailer for the adaptation of Stephen King's bestselling horror novel, published in 1986, was released last Wednesday in the early morning, with more than 81 million views and 1.8 million likes on a video on the official Facebook page. It quickly became the number one video on YouTube and stayed there all day.
The trailer also helped It go viral on Twitter, trending with #It, #ItMovie, #Pennywise and the red balloon emoji. The film tells the story of seven children terrorized by the evil clown known as Pennywise, who preys on the fears of its victims, disguising itself to track down its prey.
The cast includes Bill Skarsgård as the clown Pennywise, along with Jaeden Lieberher and Finn Wolfhard as young Bill Denbrough and Richie Tozier. The rest of the cast includes Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton.
