Although it may seem surprising, the concept of a digital influencer is not new. We haven't even fully come to terms with the phenomenon of Miquela Sousa, an influencer with a million and a half followers on Instagram who doesn't exist, and now we have creations like Imma, a completely virtual model. Who's next on the list? Her name is Jedy Vales, she works for YouPorn, she will be involved in marketing campaigns and social media... and she is 100 percent CGI.
Combining the needs and basic goals of advertising and marketing with new technologies is not an easy task. We still remember the Old Spice campaign with its high level of interactivity via Twitter and YouTube, but for every success like that, there are dozens of failures that quickly fall into oblivion.
Today, the priority is Instagram and its massive wave of influencers, who with just a few thousand followers already manage to capture the interest of different brands. To that we must add the rise of virtual influencers, computer-generated characters who try on clothes and travel just like any flesh-and-blood person. Who is the newest member of that digital army? Jedy Vales, the YouPorn ambassador.
Meet Jedy Vales: The Virtual Influencer
That's right, Jedy Vales debuted on Instagram last week, and from her images it's easy to conclude she's CGI. On a technical level, Jedy uses a bit of Unreal Engine, WebGL, motion capture, and of course, artificial intelligence. In fact, her very name is a product of an algorithm: YouPorn conducted an extensive analysis using data science and machine learning (something it already tried with searches) to determine the names of "the next generation" of porn artists, and the first answer was Jedy Vales.

Obviously not on Instagram, but it's not hard to imagine seeing "the other side" of Jedy on YouPorn, PornHub, and ModelHub (all belonging to the same network).
