Some artists exploit the characteristics of certain spaces to display their skill. Others rely on visual tricks, and there are always those who merge the real world with the digital. But the Polish sculptor Jerzy Kędziora adds an extra challenge to his work: gravity. His pieces balance in public spaces around the world using nothing but cables. Some are temporary, but others have found a permanent place, and they never cease to amaze visitors.
After several presentations in conventional galleries, the Polish artist Jerzy Kędziora realized he needed to do something different. He came to see enclosed spaces as "dead," which led him to move his work outdoors, in full view of everyone. The result is his series Balancing Sculptures, in which his sculptures hang in a seemingly precarious manner from metal cables. His most recent work is Charlie Chaplin & Friends, which will be part of the Art-St-Urban sculpture park in Switzerland through October inclusive.
