LanguageTool is a powerful spell checker that comes with many advanced options. The platform supports more than 20 languages, including Spanish, Catalan, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English (American), English (British), German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, etc. You can perform grammar or punctuation correction from its interface or by copying and pasting the text to correct into a TXT file.
Once you have downloaded the program from its official website, you will need to run the ".jar" file. You will see how its interface is divided into two sections. In the top section you can write or copy the text you want to correct, and in the bottom section, the platform will show you the solutions to the errors. In this errors section, it will show you several correction options.
Its use is very simple: you can correct the mistake by right-clicking on the misspelled word or phrase and the utility will offer you several solutions. In our tests, the environment always found the correct solution in Spanish. The platform works very well and is similar to any spell checker we find in word processors.
Regarding the language. By default, the tool automatically detects the language, but if you want to insert a specific language, you can do so from the "Text language" option, where you will find more than 20 languages.

LanguageTool is a free program available for Windows operating systems (requires Java). But you can also find it as an add-on for the web browsers Firefox and Google Chrome, as a plugin for Google Docs, or you can incorporate it into OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
