Episodic adventures are all the rage these days, and the upcoming title in the genre is Life Is Strange. Developed by the creators of Remember Me, this game is set to revolutionize the genre by allowing players to rewind time and affect the past, present, and future like a butterfly effect.

A Story of Friendship and Mystery

The story of Life Is Strange introduces us to Maxine Caulfield, a young photography student who returns to her hometown in search of her best friend, Chloe Price. Once the friends reunite, Maxine learns that Chloe's father died the year she left the city. Since then, Chloe has suffered a great depression that she managed to overcome with the help of a new friend, Rachel Amber, who disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Now Max and Chloe decide to investigate Rachel's disappearance together and, in the process, unravel the city's hidden secrets.

Gameplay: Rewinding Time

Life Is Strange is an episodic graphic adventure viewed from a third-person perspective. The novelty of this game is that Max can rewind time, a mechanic that allows you to go back and redo any action. Like the episodic adventures of Telltale Games, the decisions you make will alter and affect the story through consequences in the short, medium, or long term across future episodes. However, the difference is that each decision changed in the past triggers a butterfly effect on the future.

There will also be puzzles that require examining and interacting with various objects to solve them. Last year, the French studio Dontnod Entertainment gave us a weak but interesting adventure with Remember Me. Let's hope that in this project they don't stop halfway and can surprise us with an excellent graphic adventure.
