Luma’s official download page lists an Alpha nightly for x86-64 desktops, version 1.0.0-nightly.20261012.1, as a 7.2 GB ISO. The page says ARM64 is not built yet. Luma’s download page also sets out the desktop hardware requirements; the phone models named in coverage are targets, not the listed download.

What Luma lists for download

The page labels the build “Luma (Alpha)” and recommends its nightly build. It provides a desktop ISO for x86-64 systems. It's FOSS described Luma as pre-release and cautioned against daily or production use in its October 13, 2026 first look.

Desktop hardware requirements

Luma’s published requirements give you a quick way to check whether a desktop meets the listed baseline. The processor, memory and storage figures below distinguish minimum requirements from recommendations.

ComponentLuma’s listed requirement
Processor64-bit Intel or AMD; 2 cores at 2 GHz or faster
Memory4 GB minimum; 8 GB recommended
Storage40 GB minimum; SSD recommended

What the package-install test covered

In a hands-on test of an October 11 nightly, It's FOSS author Sourav Rudra reported successful app installations using DNF5, Flatpak and Snap (It's FOSS’s first look). That is a reported result from one nightly test, not a guarantee of compatibility across every app or build.

Desktop software and phone targets

It's FOSS describes Prairie, Luma’s desktop environment, as a hard fork of GNOME. The article says Luma apps use GTK and Libadwaita, and describes LumaUI as a toolkit for third-party developers. It also identifies Fairphone 6 and the Google Pixel 9 family as phone-support targets.

The same account describes optional Android app support through a Waydroid-based subsystem, with compatibility varying by app. It presents Luma Connect as an optional app intended to sync apps, settings and files across devices.
