M.C. Escher is one of our favorite artists here at NeoTeo. The first time we talked about him was in 2009, and we shared a gallery in May with his main works. However, there is more to see. For example, a copy of the documentary Adventures in Perception, produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands in 1971 and in Spanish. If you want to know more about the work of this genius, you can't miss it.

M.C. Escher

Impossible drawings. Shapes and curves that melt brains. Three dimensions that seem many more. Describing the works of M.C. Escher is quite a challenge, but if we follow the artist's own words, what he developed was "nothing special", and he didn't understand why other people didn't repeat it. Easier said than done, I'm afraid.

The search for inspiration, his travels through Italy and Spain, the visit to the Alhambra, his 'marriage' with tesselation… the material is available, but it requires a very special mind to combine it successfully, and Escher possessed it. Today we have the possibility to get to know it a little better, to be small flies on the walls of his studio, thanks to this video:

M.C. Escher: Adventures in Perception

A man who hated school as a child, except for drawing classes. His parents wanted to make him an architect, but his art teacher led him in another direction. Landscapes, insects, plants, at first Escher drew what he saw.

Spaces, geometry, illusions, symmetry, mirrors. His last work, Snakes (which we can see in the video) leaves all that and more in evidence. We hope you enjoy it, as well as the rest of the images.
