McAfee True Key is the kind of software you normally see in spy movies such as Mission: Impossible or James Bond but now you can actually use it on your computer or mobile device. The platform is a password manager that unlocks its security system by recognizing your face, giving you access to your stored passwords. The facial recognition is very good and fast, and if this encryption method isn't enough for you, you can also add a master password.
Getting Started
To get started, download the utility and install it on your computer (the installation is a bit slow). Then, from the tool's interface, log in with your McAfee profile (create one if you don't have it). From there you have several options to enter passwords: manually from the interface or from the browser extensions for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox.
Enabling Facial Recognition
To add facial recognition, first go to the platform's settings (top right) and click the 'Add' button in the 'face' panel. From the 'master password' option you can set a master password.
At this point, your device's webcam will activate and detect your face from different points. We recommend that there be no foreign objects between your face and the camera. If everything is fine, the process only takes a few seconds. From there you can also configure the program's lock time intervals. Now, every time you log in to McAfee True Key, you can do it with your face.
Limitations and Alternatives
Even though there are very good password managers like LastPass, McAfee True Key is a great option to manage your passwords Hollywood-style. The only limitation of the free version is that you can only save 15 passwords with facial recognition. The program is available for Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android, and as an extension for Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox.
