Mechanics is fascinating on its own, but when combined with good animation, it becomes irresistible. YouTube is packed with such animations, but today we're sharing a series of animated GIFs created by Canadian designer and graphic artist Gareth Fowler, which regularly appear on his Tumblr profile, Gareth Was Here. Pulleys, rotary engines, and other ideas from his imagination are turned into a festival of motion.
Before we dive into an exhaustive technical analysis of Fowler's animations, we should point out that a good portion of his creations could not work in real life, and he knows it. Fowler is not an engineer or a mechanic. He's a graphic designer and illustrator, so there may be errors in a component, a greater loss of efficiency, or accessories irrelevant to the original design. Either way, they look great, and that's what matters to us today.
