It all began with barely five thousand photographers in 2010. Half a decade later it became the online photography competition with the largest number of participants in the world. In its latest edition, the EyeEm Awards received more than a million images, leaving the judges with the gigantic task of selecting one hundred finalists. Below you can enjoy thirty images belonging to that new elite of photography, and the winners will be announced today, during Berlin Photo Week.
Special events, everyday tasks, the chaos of the city, solitary landscapes. Food, customs, color and pallor. Cold, rain, the fury of heat. Mobile phones and advanced cameras. The EyeEm Awards 2019 make room for all this and much more. One million images. Only one hundred finalists. In a matter of hours we will have the winners, but first, a humble gallery with thirty of them. From Spain to Argentina. From the United States to Hong Kong. Novices, enthusiasts and professionals.
Would you like to learn additional details about what happens in some of these images? Then don't hesitate to visit the official page, browse each of the categories, and devour those tidbits that accompany each photo. And as always, you could appear on that list next year. Take your camera and go find a photo.
