Reports published October 19 attributed a statement that XuanTie chips had shipped more than 6 billion units to Meng Jianyi, chief scientist at Alibaba DAMO Academy. The statement was associated with the sixth RISC-V China Summit, underway in Shenzhen from October 18 through 20. MyDrivers and an IT Home report republished by Sohu reported the figure.
The shipment figure is one reported statement
Both accounts carry the same figure attributed to Meng Jianyi. Their repetition is not a second, independent shipment count.
Sohu also reported that XuanTie shipments had first exceeded 4 billion in 2024. That earlier threshold provides context for the newer statement, which puts the reported total above 6 billion. Sohu’s report does not turn the attributed statement into a separate count.
E908A is a separate summit announcement
Reports described E908A as Alibaba DAMO Academy’s first chip enhanced for automotive-grade use. The announcement was separate from the XuanTie shipment figure. MyDrivers and the Sohu-republished report reported the announcement.
Omdia forecast a broader RISC-V expansion
Separately, Sohu attributed to Omdia a forecast that global RISC-V processor shipments would grow by nearly 30% annually through 2030, with RISC-V reaching about 25% of global processor shipments that year. The projection concerns the broader RISC-V market, not XuanTie shipments. Sohu’s account reports the forecast.
