Meta acquired Conductor, whose software coordinates multiple AI coding agents. For current users, the immediate change is a scheduled wind-down of Conductor Cloud. CEO Charlie Holtz announced the move in Conductor’s announcement, and The Register reported that a Meta spokesperson confirmed the acquisition and said it would strengthen Meta’s AI capabilities for developers.

What Meta acquired

Conductor coordinates AI coding agents working in parallel. The Register describes its macOS app as running multiple agents at once in isolated copies of Git projects. The hosted Conductor Cloud service is scheduled to wind down separately from the local Mac app.

How Conductor Cloud users can save their work

Conductor scheduled Cloud workspaces to become read-only on November 13 and the service to shut down on November 20, 2026; MLQ’s account specifies the year. During read-only access, users can still read existing chats and export data, but they cannot send new messages. Conductor says it will begin deleting Cloud user data when the service shuts down.

To keep a workspace and its chats on a Mac, right-click the Cloud workspace and choose Transfer to local. To download an archive of Conductor data, go to Settings → Account → Export data. The company says it will refund active subscribers. New users could no longer sign up or download the app as of November 4; existing free users cannot upgrade, while existing Pro users can use Pro features for free during the transition.

For a local copy and a separate archive, use both options: transfer each workspace to the Mac, then export your data.

What happens to the Mac app

Conductor says the local app will continue receiving new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027, when its support will begin winding down. The company also says it will delete all Conductor user data when the app shuts down in early 2027.

Holtz says Conductor hopes to make a new interface available early in 2027, but has not described its features.
