On October 20, 2026, Micron Technology, Inc. announced strategic funding for Indium Corporation’s planned expansion of refining and high-purity materials manufacturing in Rome, New York. The companies also said they would enter a long-term supply agreement giving Micron access to high-purity minerals.
What the planned deal covers
The agreement would connect Indium Corporation’s planned expansion with Micron’s future access to high-purity minerals. Micron said the funding is part of its broader U.S. semiconductor supply-chain plan of up to $3 billion. That figure covers the wider plan, which includes the Rome funding.
Micron separately expects to spend more than $250 billion on U.S. fabs and technology through 2035. It expects the Rome project to restart domestic critical-minerals processing and reduce reliance on concentrated global refining capacity.
