Microsoft announced a work-focused Copilot redesign on September 25, 2026, organized around Home, Code and Autopilot. The three areas are designed for Office work, building work tools with natural-language instructions, and delegating recurring tasks, with access planned in stages.

Home brings Chat, Cowork and Office together
Microsoft describes Home as a place to use Chat and Cowork alongside Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The announced experience is designed to create or update editable documents, workbooks and presentations alongside a conversation.
Code builds work tools from natural-language instructions
Code is designed to help users create apps, trackers, dashboards, automations and workflows by describing what they need in everyday language. Microsoft says Code runs in a sandboxed environment and can be hosted within an organization’s tenant. It uses technology underlying GitHub Copilot; developers can continue using GitHub Copilot for day-to-day software development.
Autopilot is the new name for Scout
Microsoft renamed Scout to Autopilot and describes it as a persistent, proactive agent for delegated and recurring work across Microsoft 365. It is designed to work across surfaces such as Teams and Outlook, including chats, channels and documents, subject to permissions, auditing and governance. Microsoft describes Autopilot as having its own identity, memory, computer and workspace within a tenant.
Microsoft announced staged access
Microsoft said Home and Code would begin rolling out through its Frontier program in the weeks after September 25. It scheduled Code’s entry into Frontier for the end of September, followed by broader availability in the coming weeks. Autopilot was scheduled to expand to private preview at the end of September. Microsoft also planned a Code preview for Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro subscribers later in 2026.
For billing, Microsoft described subscription licensing for everyday Copilot use and usage-based billing for Cowork, Code, Autopilot and certain advanced models.
