Microsoft reportedly plans to let Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Premium subscribers share Copilot benefits and AI usage with up to five additional plan members. Microsoft’s current support terms still say AI benefits are available only to the subscription owner and cannot be shared.
Microsoft’s reported Copilot-sharing plan
The reported change would extend Copilot access beyond the person who pays for the subscription. It applies to Microsoft 365 Family and Microsoft 365 Premium, with up to five other people on each plan eligible to share the benefits.
What the shared AI benefit would cover
The reported plan describes a shared allowance for advanced AI features. It also says subscription owners would be able to manage AI access for younger family members.
Microsoft says AI limits can vary by subscription plan, feature, entry point and system conditions. The reported family-plan change does not spell out a different allowance for each member.
For a separate Microsoft 365 update involving OneDrive storage, see our earlier coverage of the shared-storage change.
Microsoft’s current support terms
Microsoft’s published support terms say AI benefits are available only to the subscription owner and cannot be shared with others. Those terms describe the current policy; the reported plan would change access for Family and Premium members.
