There are many alternatives to the file explorer, with greater flexibility and all kinds of advanced features. However, the official Windows tool can be made more useful with a few minimal settings… that Microsoft insists on hiding with every operating system update. The miniToggle app brings three essential features to the surface: Show hidden files, show file extensions, and enable the classic context menu.
When we open the Windows file explorer, we'll most likely see a limited selection of files and folders, with incomplete information about each item. Why? Well… because it's the default configuration. Hiding things from the user is one of Microsoft's oldest strategies, and of course, one of the most irritating. Some modifications require access to hidden folders, or knowing exactly a file's extension. The "standard" process to re-enable these aspects requires going into Folder Options (now called Options in Windows 11, hidden inside a menu with three dots), entering the View tab, and checking the right boxes there… but the miniToggle tool is much simpler.

Once downloaded (I recommend the portable build), miniToggle presents a minimalist interface with three options and two additional sections. Among the options we have switches to show hidden files, show file extensions, and empty the recycle bin. The recycle bin button essentially works like a momentary switch and doesn't stay "active". The first section lets us assign all functions to a single click on the miniToggle icon in the system tray, and the second offers shortcuts to restore the classic context menu under Windows 11, or keep the "modern" design.
As for the remaining commands, we can tell miniToggle to start with the operating system, and enable rounded corners on its interface. That's it! The program automatically starts in Spanish if it detects that language on the operating system, and its support extends only to x64 editions of Windows 10 and 11. Link below!
