Mobile Games of the Week (05/08/15)

Today is the perfect day to play some mobile games, the kind that are addictive but don't consume as much time as their bigger siblings. This time we have war worms in Worms 2: Armageddon, crazy taxi drivers in Crazy Taxi, and the story of two teenagers sharing the same situation in Broken Age. Excellent!

Angry Birds 2

Angry Birds 2 (Free): It's incredible that in less than a week since its release, Angry Birds 2 has been downloaded more than ten million times on all available platforms. As in the original Angry Birds, you have to launch various birds at nearby structures to crush the green pigs; a key difference in this game is the ability to select the order in which to launch the birds. This allows you more freedom to create your own strategies and get a better score. Among the main new features are a new bird, Silver, and spells that you can invoke during the game, as well as boss battles. Developed by Rovio Entertainment, Angry Birds 2 is available on iOS and Android.

Broken Age

Broken Age: The game that marked Tim Schafer's return to graphic adventures in a historic Kickstarter campaign. Finally it's here and it's simply beautiful, with an orchestral soundtrack and a star cast that voices the characters. Broken Age is a timeless story that introduces us to Vella Tartine and Shay Volta, two teenagers who share an oddly similar situation but are in different worlds. Here you can change their stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and face the unexpected adventures that will accompany you throughout the game. Developed by Double Fine Productions, Broken Age is available on iOS and Android.

Crazy Taxi

Crazy Taxi: As you can imagine, this version turned out to be identical to the Dreamcast one (which in itself is good). Except for the logical differences in the control configuration menus, everything else is the same. Crazy Taxi throws you onto the streets of a city aboard a taxi. The goal is to take each occasional passenger to their destination in the shortest time possible. All the traditional and special game modes that came with Dreamcast, along with the well-known songs performed by the bands Bad Religion and The Offspring, are present here, with the same level of difficulty (which in some cases becomes desperately complicated), so be patient. In short, this game is still as good as in its other versions, making it a very good option for fans of the genre. Developed by Sega, Crazy Taxi is available on iOS and Android.

Eliss

Eliss: An award-winning puzzle game that makes use of the mobile's touch screen. In Eliss you are in charge of a universe where planets can be merged into giant spheres or split into small planets. The goal is to squeeze out a required amount of planets depending on the level. But the complication arises with the appearance of red stars, which damage all planets that can be combined and must be avoided. There are also transient vortices that attract all planets. As you progress, you'll unlock a variety of different landscapes and gameplay styles that will test your skill and intelligence. Developed by Steph Thirion, Eliss is available exclusively on iOS.

Worms 2: Armageddon

Worms 2: Armageddon: If you have an Android phone and you like war games, you were surely angry with your friend who has an iPhone and plays the classic Worms nonstop. But don't get bitter anymore, because Worms 2: Armageddon is available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store. In this game you'll be able to battle against three friends in a very fun multiplayer mode or enjoy a solo campaign to become the best mercenary worm. This installment includes new weapons, more customization options, and of course, many explosions that will gradually alter the terrain until only one worm can be left standing. Developed by Team17, Worms 2: Armageddon is available on iOS and Android.
