The world is going crazy over bitcoin. And tapping into the popularity of the cryptocurrency, indie studio Gem Rose Accent is about to release a game with an interesting reward: if you're the first to finish MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma, you win a bitcoin.
Since video games were invented, parents have told their kids that playing them was a waste of time. Now things have changed, since if you're the first to finish MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma, you win a bitcoin. This independent first-person adventure takes place in a labyrinthine mansion containing a total of twenty-four puzzles that you can solve on your own or with other players. In fact, you can leave them clues, or confuse them with false clues that lead them to dead ends. After all, only one person can win the bitcoin at the end.
The development team behind MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma is a secret. They currently call themselves “Gem Rose Accent” but keep their identity hidden until the first player has finished the game. But let's get to the important part: you're probably wondering how you can claim your bitcoin once you've completed all the puzzles. For that, Gem Rose Accent has included a wallet.dat file inside the game files, which is protected by a twenty-four-word password using the BitcoinCore client. Each solved puzzle will reveal one word to unlock that file. In fact, the developers have already given a first hint by linking to a Github page.
The current value of a single bitcoin is a little over $9,800 at the moment, making it a good reward for buying a game that costs $1.99. However, you have to wonder if the excitement of playing will fade once the prize has been claimed. Even so, solving twenty-four puzzles for two dollars isn't bad at all. MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma is being developed by Gem Rose Accent and will be available through Steam on February 20, 2018.
