A few days ago, Valve revealed details about the new Knuckles EV2 controller, which promises to take the virtual reality experience to a new level. This controller allows players to use their hands realistically to reach, touch, grab, and manipulate objects within a deeply immersive VR experience. With such innovation, the American company needs to give developers a little push with some examples of how it works. And one of those examples is Moondust, the new VR demo set on the Moon.
Moondust and the Portal Universe
Like the previous HTC Vive demo, Moondust is set in the Portal universe, where Aperture Science (the name of the research facilities where the games take place) is sending robots to build a modular space station and conduct tests on the Moon. The demo preserves some of the humor and visual elements characteristic of the games, while the gameplay takes advantage of the capabilities of the Knuckles EV2 controller, where you can crush rocks by squeezing your hands, drive a lunar buggy, and build a space station by picking up its pieces with precision and joining them.
How to Get Moondust
Currently, the Knuckles EV2 is not available to everyone, as the only lucky ones are developers who received the development kit from Valve. In contrast, Moondust is on Steam, although it does not appear in the main lists, but can only be accessed through a dedicated link.
