On October 20, 2026, Elon Musk said during SpaceX’s third-quarter earnings-call broadcast that ASML and other suppliers were accelerating equipment deliveries for Terafab, the planned Texas semiconductor project associated with Tesla and SpaceX.

Terafab’s reported milestones span two sites

A reported plan calls for SpaceX to make an experimental chip at its Austin research and manufacturing facility around Q2 2027. The planned Gibbons Creek facility has a volume-production target of Q3 or Q4 2028. Musk described the timetable as highly aggressive and subject to large margins of error.

The reported project plan combines logic, memory and advanced packaging, with conventional EUV systems and Intel 14A process technology.

An earlier estimate put the first EUV tool in Austin in 2027

An earlier estimate, attributed to unnamed, non-official sources, placed Terafab’s first EUV tool in Austin around mid-2027. NeoTeo previously covered that projection.
