Music theory has its limits, and sooner or later we must face the practice… but if you feel you need a little extra help, maybe Muted.io is useful. The portal includes dozens of visual references, tools, and several virtual instruments to optimize our music learning, without creating accounts or signing up for subscriptions.
The Web is completely full of resources for learning music. Without going too far, YouTube offers countless tutorials focused on a wide variety of instruments, but there are also portals such as Learning Music and Learning Synths, both created by the people at Ableton. Today I would like to add Muted.io, a project that serves as a general introduction to music theory, presenting the user with dozens of tools and virtual instruments.
How to learn music with Muted.io
The good news is that you don't need to create any account or profile to start. The bad news is that you probably won't have enough time if you want to study all the available tools. I imagine that the virtual piano will be your first stop, followed by the Beat Maker and the sequencer. Added to this are virtual tuners for guitar and ukulele, circle of fifths, three different tuners (voice, guitar and chromatic), and even a digital xylophone so that the little ones at home can torture their parents without limits.
In fact, a click on the Browse all tools button will take you to the entire list of available tools, separated by different categories. Muted.io is a site designed for all levels, and even has alternative resources such as textures and wallpapers that you can use on album covers. Finally, the site shares basic descriptions of all the terms it mentions, but they are in English. Even so, it is not complicated to navigate its content.
Once again, Muted.io does not depend on subscriptions or premium profiles. The only thing its developer asks in return is a small donation on Ko-fi if we consider the material useful. The rest is a matter of exploring, and getting lost among all these tools. Link below!
