The first suggestion is not connecting a computer to the internet. The second is definitely not connecting a computer to the internet. But if you're willing to ignore the warnings and do it anyway, you'll need a relatively up-to-date browser. The MyPal project is based on Firefox 68, and although it doesn't let us access every online service, it's by far the best browser for Windows XP in 2022.
Last year we set out to find out what it takes to keep using Windows XP. Obviously, any user forced to squeeze a little more life out of their hardware should try some Linux flavor as an alternative. However, reinstalling XP is still an experiment with very interesting challenges. The most important one is finding a browser that works on modern sites and doesn't blow up in our faces.
In recent weeks, I've seen tutorials for installing Chrome on Windows XP with the help of the One-Core-API project, but the process is very complex, makes low-level modifications to the operating system, and has serious stability problems. Luckily, finding a browser for Windows XP in 2022 is far from a headache. All arrows point to MyPal.

Initially, MyPal used Pale Moon's code as a base, but after a mini nuclear war started by its creators, developer Feodor decided to migrate to Firefox. The most recent build (at the time of writing) is 68.12.4b from last June, which we can download directly from GitHub. MyPal has no installer; it's enough to extract the zip contents into a folder.
When running it, we find a relatively standard Firefox experience… and we have no complaints about it. Everything we expect from the interface is there, and the most relevant extensions work perfectly, with two details: we must go to addons.mozilla.org to search for them (the internal engine shows no results), and enable their execution in private tabs.
Now, it's likely that all services with DRM dependencies will be out of our reach when using MyPal, but YouTube loaded every element we asked for during our tests (beyond some isolated hangs), including streams and shorts. Another positive aspect is that the about:config section hasn't gone anywhere, and if the plan is to apply more advanced tweaks, we can do it without issues. Finally, the only technical requirement of MyPal 68 is that Windows XP has its Service Pack 3; otherwise, there will be errors.
