The phrase "Netflix and chill" went viral quickly thanks to its context, but how does "Netflix and going to sleep"? Leaving the TV on to fall asleep is one of the oldest tricks in the world, and the NapFlix platform points in that direction with videos of birds, rain, waterfalls, tropical beaches and even hourglasses to relax and sleep.
We know very well what happens to our body when we can't sleep, and the consequences of pulling an all-nighter. We have also explored different resources to get Morpheus to work at last... but the fight for quality sleep continues. A small radio under the pillow, a cup of something hot, a stronger drink, the TV on, everything is valid. In fact, many Netflix users take advantage of the platform to fall asleep, and with that in mind we come to NapFlix, a parody site that works as "the Netflix for sleeping".
NapFlix: Netflix for sleeping
There are no accounts, no profiles, or anything like that. After all, the site is still a parody, and its video offering is divided into ten categories. From a lava lamp filmed for more than four hours to the singing of birds in the rain, through campfires, waterfalls, physics lessons and even an hourglass with music that reminds us of the Sims soundtrack, there is enough material to fall asleep, either by the sedative effect of the sounds, or out of pure boredom.
What differences are there between NapFlix and the thousands of videos YouTube offers with the same goal? Well... very few. NapFlix videos are hosted on YouTube, including its 'originals' like the subway ride and the oscillating fan. But I imagine it will be impossible to fall asleep with the content of certain categories. Honestly, who can fall asleep to Tetris music on loop and a player annihilating level 20 on the Game Boy version? Anyway, give it a try!
