With NASA WorldView you can view near-real-time imagery captured by most of NASA's satellites, so you can see or download photos almost as soon as NASA scientists do. The web tool behaves a lot like Google Earth, focusing on visuals rather than technical details.

Its use is very simple: you can navigate with the mouse over the map and go to any place on the planet (drag and zoom). The platform is very useful for observing different phenomena of the planet, such as storms, fires, floods and ash rain, among many others.

How to View Satellite Images

To view satellite images of the Earth taken by NASA satellites, you only have to click on the Add Layers button on the left side of the page and then, in the pop-up windows, select the scientific discipline or natural phenomenon.

You just have to choose one or several subcategories to see the images on the map. The information is shown in detail in the region you previously selected on the map. If you are a user without knowledge to read this data, you might not understand much of the information. If you select several categories and subcategories, you will see how the layers overlap on the map.

Sharing and Saving Snapshots

At the top right of the interface there are four icons from which you can share a link of the selected location and category, take a screenshot, make a projection and get more information. For the screenshot, you can configure the format in JPEG, PNG, TIFF and KMZ, and also manipulate the resolution in pixels and compress everything in ZIP.
