In a short while, you'll be able to sit with a friend and enjoy an entertaining and frenetic sword-fighting game. It's Nidhogg 2, a crazy title for sword duels where the action is constant and fun is guaranteed.
Released in 2014 for Windows and later adapted for Mac, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, Nidhogg is an indie 2D fighting game where players engage in sword duels in a pixelated environment. Critics praised the feel of the gameplay and its balance, but considered its single-player mode unsatisfactory, contrary to its multiplayer mode. That's how last September a sequel was announced, and this time we have a video recorded live from E3 2017 with the creators, Mark Essen and Kristy Norindr of Messhof (the developer studio), playing Nidhogg 2 on PlayStation 4

Mark and Kristy compete face to face in a Nidhogg 2 match with new weapons, environments, and various ways to feel slightly uncomfortable with each defeat. Compared to the original game, the weapon system of this sequel is expanded, and its graphics and animations have been redone. As you can see in the video, the gameplay pits two players against each other in a duel to control the screen. If you eliminate your opponent, you can advance to the next screen, but you have to hurry because soon a new opponent will appear in your path.
New Weapons and Arenas
The goal is to reach the end of the arena to win and be devoured by the flying worm Nidhogg. You can now use new weapons like the long sword, the knife, and the bow and arrow, ideal for safely attacking from a distance. The game features ten combat arenas ranging from castles, to flying ships, to an erupting volcano, all the way to the inside of a Nidhogg's guts. You can also take advantage of each arena's environment to gain an edge over your opponent.
This sequel will include a single-player and multiplayer mode, both locally and online. Nidhogg 2 is being developed by Messhof and will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Mac. The game doesn't have a concrete release date yet, but it's expected to launch in the third quarter of 2017.
